Meleana Cabales
Administrative Assistant
Meleana Cabales is a mezzo-soprano based in Charleston, South Carolina. She studies voice with Harold Meers and Saundra DeAthos at the College of Charleston, where she graduated from the Honors College (2024) with a B.A. in Vocal Performance and a minor in Arts Management.Â
Meleana continues her training as a Post-Baccalaureate Artist-in-Residence with College of Charleston Opera, where she will perform The Witch in Hänsel und Gretel in February 2026 and where she has brought to life operatic roles such as Orfeo in Orfeo ed Euridice, Prince Orlofsky in Die Fledermaus, The Muse/Nicklausse in Les contes d’Hoffmann, Second Lady in Die Zauberflöte, and covered Miller’s Wife in Il Re. As a young artist, Meleana has sung Elizabeth Proctor in The Crucible with Harrower Summer Opera and covered Cherubino in Le nozze di Figaro with Chicago Summer Opera. She has performed in the choruses of Charleston Opera Theater’s productions of La Bohème, L’elisir d’amore, and Don Giovanni. Meleana continues to sing with the company for a variety of engagements, and she looks forward to her professional role debut as Mercédès in the company’s production of Carmen, in which she is also covering the title role.Â
Meleana has a strong passion for non-profit arts administration, which is reflected in her positions as the Communications Coordinator at Kiawah Arts, etc. and the Administrative Assistant for both Charleston Opera Theater and College of Charleston Orchestra. She also serves as a House Manager at the Sottile Theatre, Ticketing Agent at the George Street Box Office, and Vocal Artist at Trinity United Methodist Church in Downtown Charleston.
