Susan W. Sullivan

Born and raised outside of Chicago, Susan spent a year as a foreign exchange student in Sweden with American Field Service (AFS) and has kept up her relationships there as well as her ability to speak Swedish. With a BS in journalism, she studied at Bradley University, Peoria, IL, and Kent State University, Kent, OH. Susan’s professional career spanned work in advertising, PR and corporate communications with the majority spent at medical device companies, including Johnson & Johnson, where she was Director of Communications for their Ethicon subsidiary. In 1996, Susan started a successful communications consulting company, focused on support for medical product companies.
After retiring on Kiawah in 2002, Susan began giving time to her cultural passions. She is currently a member of the Charleston Symphony Orchestra’s Executive Committee and Board of Directors and was an initial sponsor of the Gaillard’s Dance Initiative.
